” How long have you been standing there?”

” Longer than you’d find comfortable!”

” What all did you hear?”

” Oh! More than you’d wish for me to know!”

” What are you going to do to me?”

” I’m not certain just yet.”

” What’s that for?”

” Your naughty pleasures.”

” Oh it is, is it?”

” Come here and kneel down.”

” If I don’t?”

” Oh but you will.”

Writing Prompt #109: Vanished

Being written for Rachael Mark’s prompt seen here. Photo taken from Pinterest.

Anastasia paused at the moment she saw him. She would surely be thought rude for staring; but, she couldn’t do anything else. He was dark and handsome, standing at 6′ 5″. His top hat and peacoat created an illusion of him taller in height. From where Anastasia stood, she could see he had a thin but masculine physique. He stood facing her, with his feet shoulder length apart, and a cane resting in front of him.

She shivered, suddenly, as if an ice cube just fell the length of her spine. This usually happens to her when her spiritual life was trying to speak to her. For another moment, she remained there, at the bottom of the stairs. His whole aura was intriguing and mysterious. There was something about him that tempted Anna’s desire.

After what seemed like a lifetime, she took five steps forward, and began walking up the stairs. The centertown college was old England architecture. The market was a gorgeous structure of stone and masonry work. Anna has adored the brilliant sculptures and intrigue details artists put into their masterpieces.

While lost in her thoughts, and unfortunately by the time she reached the upper landing, her mysterious gentleman had vanished. She pressed up against the wall to overlook the town square. No, he wasn’t there. She delicately galloped through the narrow street, splashing through a puddle in the process. He was nowhere to be found. With much disgust, Anastasia surrendered her search.

The day had begun it’s transition to early evening, and the weather was quite cool. It was time to return home and prepare dinner. She hoped to see him again, if fate allotted.

Laugh it Away

Sadje’s story was an incredible delight to read!

Thank you, Keep It Alive, for such a cheeky and pleasant post!! I chuckled as I read what happened.

It reminds us that life really should be lived, and that we should allow ourselves the laughter rather than carry embarrassment. I’ve had a few instances where I truly embarrassed myself. What are you to do though? There’s nothing that can change the situation, and there’s nothing that can prevent mistakenly awkward from reoccurring… So, just laugh out loud, bid them good day, and be on your way😂😂

She sat and looked at her. There was such a sad aura about her, pale color, disinterested gaze. Her hair went black, her clothes now heavy with chains and buckles, weighing her to the ground. She chose dark nail color, thick eye liner, a blank “Fuck Off” stare. She has stuffed away her pink and bows, and she’s replaced it with an exterior to match her pain.

It was four years ago, her brother had enlisted into the Air Force. She wasn’t as close to him as she would’ve liked, but this was still her older brother. Did he really want to join   the military? She was doubtful; he hasn’t mentioned nor displayed such a passion before his enlisting. There he was, September 11, 2001, he was to aboard a plane and leave Ohio in the dust.

Al Quida had different plans for him that day; shit, they had such for everyone breathing, that day . They were aware of the comfortable complacency and weakened division among the US citizens and their government. Neither here nor there, her brother didn’t arrive at boot camp for another two weeks.

Little did she realize, eight weeks into her brother’s basic training, her life was changed forever. He wasn’t ready to obey his commanding officer. He wasn’t ready to obey rules of the US Government. He wasn’t mature enough to handle the responsibilities in the shoes of the military. She realize that ; she didn’t fault him entirely.

The ball started downhill, rolling faster and faster, until it suffocated her. The thoughts that kept her up stole every desire within her. The night hours laughed at her fear, flamed her anger, and destroyed her restful sleep. As the dawns rose, a swelling grew in her throat. She had to face the public, particularly her peers, as if everything was absolutely fine.

Walking down the hallways, the colors blurred together. The sounds muffled, and it was as if  she had tunnel vision. Her palms were always sweaty, her focus was on fighting back tears, and against anger outbursts.

She began to journal on a more regular basis. She felt to much, to deeply to carry all within her mind. How was she, at just 14, expected to carry such an adult burden? How was she expected to “fake” herself as a “fine” individual when she wasn’t fine to begin with. She had no idea who she was to try and pretend she wasn’t.

This pretty decent and well behaved girl grew into a mass ball of confusion, guilt, shame, bitterness, depression, anxiety, jealousy, envy, spite, and anger….. Before she was given the opportunities to decide for herself, who she was.

She sat staring at her, as the transparency of her truth appeared on her tear stained cheeks. She’s been so strong…. For so long… Trying with everything within her mortal abilities to gain the acceptance of these horrendous people who begrudgingly adopted her and her syblings. She tried to obey every rule, learn from syblings mistakes, and be someone of which they were proud…

Tear after tear, unconscionable, salty, anguished and fresh. She couldn’t stop them. She didn’t want to any more. This precious young woman turned from the mirror, placed her face in her hands, and wept for herself.

This life… Is all she knew and understood about being, and it had been hell for as long as she could remember. ” There has to be more than this!” She broke through her weakened lungs.

#FOWC: Center

” I believe, in the center of it all, all that lives, all that grieves, and all that matters… In the center of all the hate, the unexpected blessings, and the prayers unanswered.., in the sunrises and early birds’ song, in the second guessing, second chances, and second half of life…love is all one sees. Love is what makes everything and anything “be”💕

I’m so thankful to live this life, open-hearted to “the possible”… With faith bigger than fear, and my eyes focused on truths. So much could destroy me… Bitter my heart, send me down a dark rabbit hole… I Know that my ONLY limitation is myself… And I’m entirely too curious and stubborn to get in my own damn way!

#FOWC: Fierce & Fearless Goddess

10/20/18

She was made for war ;

Suited in confidence no enemy could ever destroy.

She spent many a year, practicing… Imitating the other women leaders.

The ones she idolized and admired.

Her mother had always encouraged her with positive affirmatives; but,

She just didn’t understand what was within, until recently.

Now, the stars shine and the rainbows glow just for her.

She’s come so far… Outgrowing her comfort zone..

She’s accepted the role of a fierce and fearless godess.

Paisley was the light of Patricia’s life! She was positive and cheerful, loved everyone, and enjoyed life. Patricia always said Paisley could accomplish anything, despite her Down Syndrome.

As Paisley’s 16th birthday approached, Patricia decided a beach theme would be perfect. It was her favorite escape in the area.

On a single table, Patricia laid several genuine beach relics. These were memorabilia  of when she and her mother visited Sunset Shore! Patricia smiled at her special arrangement. It’s but bittersweet acceptance to pass it down to the next generation.

Bittersweet acceptance of these possessions no longer hers.

Bittersweet acceptance that her mother is gone.

Bittersweet acceptance that time doesn’t stand still.

Clubhouse “Dumbfounded”!

Everyday, around 3:15, my younger daughter and I arrive at the school in which Zivah attends. Typically, I’ll take Sweet Pea(Calandra) to the school playground, because she loves interacting with the other kids and playing on the slide.
Today was no different. We arrived a bit earlier so I could check on Zivah. I believe she’s been having a tough time with severe separation anxiety and uncomfortable pain from ingrowning molars. She’s spent the end of last week and much of this week, this far, crying 😦 I wish I knew what’s the solution. I am trying to piece this situation apart so I know exactly the issue to tackle. It’s truly disheartening.
A few minutes before the school for was to open for ” pick up ” parents, Calandra and I walked to the door. She’s a sweet girl, greeting everyone with a hi and a wave. She enjoys talking to others and showing them skills she can do. Everyone is very receptive, complimenting her on her cuteness and friendliness.
The moment that left me speechless though, happened when a lady looked at me and asked,
” You’re adopting her?”….
Then she follows with “How many do you have?”
No one has ever asked me that before. With her doing so, I fell she spoke so much disapproval towards my choices. This is the twenty first century, biracial children are more common now than they were twenty years ago. In today’s society, families are multicultural. It’s more uncommon for each member to be of the same race.
my boyfriend and I came up with a few alternative answers to her question :
* No, she came as the treat surprise in a Kinder egg.
*Picked her off the shelf at Toys R US.
*Bought her off Craigslist
*Stork dropped her off.
These I should have said, but I was to dumbfounded to think 😳😳

7 Survival Tips for Highly Sensitive Moms

7 Survival Tips for Highly Sensitive Moms
— Read on piganddac.com/7-survival-tips-for-highly-sensitive-moms/

What’s Highly Sensitive? It’s a state of living in which all scenes are over stimulated. Lights appear as if they’re prepared for a Friday night football game. Sounds are as if projected through a surround sound… On it’s highest sound level.

People who are sensitive make up roughly 10-20% of the population… And some of you MAY acknowledge yourself to be HSP.

A few years ago, actually 8 to be exact, I discovered this about myself. It was life changing. I’ve grown in love for myself and prioritize my self care now.

Moms,

If you’re we easily overwhelmed and hate big crowds, if you can relate to overhead lights feeling like unnecessary headaches, this article may be so helpful to you.

This patio welcomed every passerby. The funny part is, NYC natives tell the same story: after a brief stay, every resident reroutes ship to sail this street as often as possible. Ezra did just that. Angelina’s Sip & Sweets was the best, hands down.

The light’s collapsed upon an atmosphere of adventure, wonder and, yet, peace. Graduating from year to year, the coffee shop gained the best preposterous stories; satisfying the craze of so many ill-fuctioning businessmen.

Ezra sheepishly chuckled. In her 29 years, she’s, occasionally,  relied on her hot mocha latte to survived work with a horrendous hangover. Whoops!

Every Friday, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields- Addicted to Purple encourages writers to challenge him/herself with a Photo Prompt and literary genre. You can read more about it but clicking her name, above.

The Awesome Impact Award 2018

I am humbly honored to accept this Awesome Impact Award from the sweetest Ana💕! I wasn’t aware of such an award, and I never dreamed, after just a few months, I’d be nominated. Ana, I’m incredibly grateful. Please know it’s just as much of a blessing as it is to simply hear someone enjoys my work. My goal isn’t specific to a certain set of statistics or an exact number of posts, but rather this place is of substance, quality, and good things.

Rad Gamer gave birth to this award, so that we may share how any particular situation influenced our lives in a positive way. What I LOVE about this award is that, from my perspective, everyone is qualified. How So? At any moment, something of which we have no control can be negative or positive. Many life experiences carry a capability of both. It’s a choice, our individual choice, as to how the circumstances will impact us. For me, the decision has been to make the most of it, learn and grow, be thankful for change, and ask God for His help while keeping faith.

🌺The Rules:

  1. Tag the person who nominated you.
  2. Take “The Awesome Impact Award” Picture and add that in your post.
  3. Talk about an incident that impacted your life in a really positive way.
  4. Nominate 10 other awesome bloggers for this award.

Picking one incident, in particular, that’s positively influenced my life is challenging. To say the least, I’ve had a lifetime of situations that breaded my insecurities and flaws.

When I was three, my twin & I stayed in six foster care homes in six months. The constant change of faces is what I knew life to be. My three other siblings were with another family, and even that was a poor living situation.

You’d think, one man and woman, willing to open their hearts and home to adopt five would result in the happiest ever after. This story unraveled an ugly and bitter woman, who wanted “her own” children, despite its five.

The chaos continued in 1990, when she gave birth to a set of twin boys. In no way am I saying I wish she hadn’t. Fact is, those two came from her womb, they were treated and raised differently… In 1993, our family of 9 became a family of 10. Early on, at a very young age, the oldest of us could sense the disadvantages we had compared to the others.

In 2005, when I was tired of trying, doing nearly everything these two individuals wanted, while unfortunately lacking so many essential life skills, I decided to physically walk to work, rather than commit suicide.

I decided the night before that I could no longer live under such strict, unhealthy, and uncontrollable conditions. If I could survive that, knowing so very little about the real world, clueless as to who I really was or wanted to be, and incapable of basic survival skills, I could handle anything life threw at me.

Life has since, placed me homeless twice, one of which I was pregnant, driving unfamiliar North Carolina roads at night, to someone I hadn’t ever met, while my boyfriend was arrested for driving without a license. Him committing suicide, while I was 100000% dependent on him for everything, including raising our 18th old daughter, moving to Cleveland in the middle of Winter, to restart and reestablish a life for us, attending to my medical condition that fear used to hold me hostage from driving, coping with verbally abusive people, and a second (accidental pregnancy) on my own.

I’m an independent woman. I’m a mother of two sweet happy girls. I have my own apartment, with most bills caught up. I’m not receiving assistance besides medical. I pull through trials, knowing everything will work out if I keep faith and hope. I have an incredible boyfriend, strong resilience, tons of self discovered identification, and no fear to drive highways.

Sometimes, I fear life is going to stare me in the face and say, ” I got you, you failure. You’re now my bitch.”, and then I’ll recieve a nomination such as this and a message of light I had been to someone…. And I’ll realize I’m doing pretty ok.

My 10 Nominations :

  1. Renard Moreau
  2. The Lonely Author
  3. Ally’s Notebook
  4. DM: Pointless Overthinking
  5. CrucialNotes
  6. The Good The Human
  7. Domingo’s Day
  8. Dirty Sci-Fi Buddha
  9. Matt W Watson- Future Failed Writer
  10. Linda’s Bible Study

Friday Fictioneers: Slave Duties

Photo Prompt ©️Yvette Prior

Thelma, Beatrice, and Georgette huddled in the back corner, awaiting the entrance of the Master’s wife , Angelica. She was the Lady of the House, and she conducted strict business with her “house slaves.”

“I reckon you’re in for an awful slashin!”, Beatrice whispered to Georgette.

“I pray for her mercy on you. Master & his wife always adding the distaste of untidiness in their stories away from home!”, Thelma added with empathetic eyes.

“Georgette, come with me! NOW!” Angelica harshly demanded. The night before flashed through Georgette’s mind. Her unexpected visitor charmed her with many sensual distractions.
