Your Mission Statement

Moreso in the last decade, organizations, such a schools, have begun a new tradition: identifying their ” mission statement”. Why? It provides

  1. A goal to accomplish.
  2. Unity among everyone within the organization.
  3. A sense of direction, coupled with encouragement.
  4. Reason for valuable skills, such as endurance, hard work, and confidence.
  5. Path to find should one fall astray.

This statement is strong, something that brings each within together, with all the rest. Students learn teamwork.

What about here on WordPress? Or for your life, on a personal level? What’s your Mission Statement?

I never thought about it before, honestly. Writing one seems like a great idea though, for many reasons.

In the next couple of days, consider these words and your passions. What would you say is your Mission Statement?

You can find the original post of this image, here.

Fandango’s Provocative Question

You can find all the details to his thought provoking post HERE🙂

His question: What are the 3 biggest challenges in your country right now? If you’re not Up-to-date on the news, you can respond on a personal level.

I don’t follow the news much; however, one doesn’t need to in order to see big issues in my country.

#1. Racism has been and forever will be the biggest challenge. Sadly, it’s the easiest one to fix. No motherfucker is better than the next. We all are immortal and we all hurt. One day we all are going to die. The ones who are remembered choose to live life with intention and a long term purpose.

#2. Gun violence, unfortunately, has crept it’s way up under the wing of issue 1. I don’t understand why the world feels shooting is going to solve problems. It’s everywhere though. Just last week, right outside a local public library, here in Cleveland, a man shot another man over some weed. The victim didn’t survive. He was 19.

#3. Poverty is the third biggest issue. Again, I’m starting to believe this is a global issue, but I don’t understand why. There’s more empty houses in the United States than there are homeless individuals??!!! It makes no sense. There’s been reports in the last few years where laws and restrictions have been placed about what can be done with outdated food or overstock.

It seems that alittle more love and kindness can solve all kinds of problems… Or maybe I’m just nieve.

Working On Us – Week 6

This is my interpretation of Beckie’s Mental Mess, weekly “Working on Us” prompt. You can read more about it here🙂

She posted a few questions, as well as a picture (or two). Same as she does every week.

This week I was struggling to choose between the two photos, so I’m going to do the first.

IMAGE #1:

I immediately thought, on that’s simple… Depression is dark and the tree is signifying the way out. The more I stared at it, something deeper happened.

The blackened area is nearly impossible to navigate. That’s what depression feels like. There’s no light, no sense of direction. The darkened area is also enclosed. There’s endless darkness; and it feels like it’s going to swallow us up. There’s no hope, no way out, no running from it, no avoiding it…

It’s then, that depression leads to in bed all day. It leads to no showers for days, little appetite, all that is colorless, dingy, gloomy, and powerless. Our depression doesn’t remove what we have. It merely dims the light around it, with grief, lies, and black.

It takes deliberate persistence to refind that mustard seed of hope. It’s always been there; it’ll always be there. The tree is our roots, the center that keeps us grounded. It’s the truths that shine, despite circumstances.

This was a refreshing reminder that our circumstances don’t remove roots of our true selves.

“Working on Us” Week #4

Every Thursday, Beckie, from Beckie’s Mental Mess, blogs about the dangerously increasing issue of mental health. She includes a few questions and an image, encouraging participants to write of that which sparks inspiration. You can check out last week’s submittions by clicking the link above.

I am usually drawn to the images in the prompt. This week follows suite.

Caged

The darkness fell upon her,

Just as the sunset faded to night.

She feared these hours, most.

The voices would soon, resonate,

The secrets of her past, horrors of

Her life, and lies about her character.

Quiet Whispers, subtle and familiar,

The haunting familiarity of endless hours.

Her mistakes visited, stared her in the face.

Anxiety attacked every inch of her weakening confidence.

Insecurities surfaced, breaking her down.

The night brought her storms,

Caging her into solitude, fearful of judgement.

She struggled with facing society, functioning normally,

And do so while sensing judgement from every passerby.

Until, one day, she declared, “Enough!”

She spread her wings

And broke free.

Tuesday Greetings

Good Morning Wonderful People 😀

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted. I’ve been reevaluating my life and future since this recent big change. It scary, slightly, because I felt my sense of direction has been removed. In a way, it has. Change rearranges our lives… And introduces us to new opportunities.

I had such a message sent to me yesterday, that’s inspired me to write a love story.

” If I ever saw an angel, it was in your eyes, for this I will sweep you off your feet and make God regrethe left an angel behind.”

Maybe if I do this, I’ll feel some healing. I’ll know someone has the love they deserve, even then some. LoL, does that make sense to anyone else?

Ok, my girls and I are off to do laundry and back out to the creek! 🙂

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Perfect afternoon:

Weather is warm, but cool. The sun feels fantastic! There’s not a cloud in the sky.

I’m by myself, able to sleep and watch tv, window shop and relax without much stress.

The park is busy but not so much where I couldn’t find a place to sit. The city skyline is amazing.

I’m in such peace. I’m so thankful!

Trapped – Human Performance Psychology

Fabulous blog post & excellent therapeutic blog site 🌅🧡

When people come to therapy, they’re often consumed by an almost-visible string of old injuries – a hypercritical parent, a missed opportunity, a horrible breakup. And, when I point out to them that they’ve got some past pain stuck on their shoe, their reaction is almost universally the same: “I’ve been trying to understand why…

Tuesday Thoughts

This is powerful huh?!

Good Morning ~ Happy Tuesday! I’m sipping my coffee ( Seattle’s Best Port Blend is my favorite!!)

This image really caught my attention! My fears are just as aggressive and dangerously inhibiting as these alligators! I’m sure you can relate.

Thankfully, when we recognize the alligators in the swamp, we can hold on to faith and hope to keep us. I personally believe I would literally lose my mind if not for my faith.

What are these ideas anyway?

Hope is believing in what can’t be seen.

Faith is believing the unseen to come to being!

They’re might might ideas… and they’re for everyone. Spiritual, religious, atheist or whatever.

If we all practiced putting hope in situations and faith into ourselves, I know we’d build self confidence and overcome. I know we’d be victorious and feel proud.

Maybe it’s worth a try? Maybe the possibility is worth another chance? I know you’re worth having faith. I know you’re worth keeping hope!

A Time 4 Healing

The universal alignment showed me this as soon as I opened Pinterest. Is it a sign? I’d like to believe so. The saying goes,

” It’s always darkest before the dawn.”

So this evening, as I say farwell to one of the hardest weekends I’ve been through, I look forward to these coming days of healing.

How about all of you? Does anyone feel a sense of transition in the midst? Anyone feel a sense of change in a situation? I pray that healing patches up all the hurt you carry. I pray that you recognize the light shining and allow yourself the new opportunities your future is meant to have.

Namastè Sweet Souls

Friday Feels

She woke this morning, her phone resonating his ringtone. He sent her a sweet kiss emoji face and a thoughtful text that’d assist her with improving her future. Those little gestures warm the dark places in her heart.. The places where self doubt and pain feast.. When others, those who are biologically related, dismiss her without a blink.

She was thankful that she felt the warmth, because the unchained heart is that of healing.

The girls were able to sleep in. The previous day was exhausting; and they went to bed much later than usual. It was a stressful start to their Thursday; but, they made it through. By afternoon, momma was feeling much more like herself, and needed to get a few tasks finished.

(Here’s the arrangement, for the moment)

Once the coffee was made (oh the yummiest smooth blend of Deliciousness!), she jumped on the tasks of her phone. The extra effort, walking, clipping coupons, taking surveys, scanning barcodes, has been well worth it when she’s needed to rewards. In addition to such tasks, she spent time adding some positivity to social media. There’s to much negativity.

The list of To Do is a mile high :

Dishes need done.

Laundry needs washed.

Floors need mopped.

There’s home improvement projects to finish.

Right now, though, the breeze is blowing and the temperature perfectly comfortable. The girls are content and occupied. So much feels so good right now…

And for that she is abundantly thankful!

Food For Thought Friday

We focus so much on our pain…. particularly, pain that others have caused us. We grow bitter and jaded. We build walls, shut people out, sulk in our misery. We want someone to blame, for destroying a valuable piece of ourselves. We get angry that someone mistreated us, took advantage of our good nature, and disrespected our beliefs and values. We torture ourselves with what ifs, should haves, and constant replay. We lose sleep. We quit eating. We drink until our livers are thrown up. Some people destroy everything that represents that time… Others punish the person of blame.

We keep the pain alive, through fear… And distance… Self harm, isolation, darkened rooms. The pain is an endless cycle of insanity…

Pain is an ugly thing. Underneath it… Is love that’s been hurt. I don’t care who says what, we ALL know how to love… And pain is what makes us human.

It’s truth to life… Pain caused by other people…

What about pain we cause ourselves?

Sayyy wwhhhaaaa????? 😱😱😱😱

Yes! What about the pain we cause to ourselves.

Pain in the tolerance? The intimidating silence? The submission due to fear. Pain in the denial. Pain in the illusion of what we want rather than what is. We create our own pain in replays and reminding, reminiscing, and rewinding. We create our pain in the excuses for their behavior, and the lack of worth we feel for ourselves.

It’s not a single person’s responsibility, nor should it be anyone else’s top priority to heal us… It’s that of the individual in the glass. It’s OUR responsibility to learn. It’s our power to grow and change. It’s our worth that’s being TLC… It’s our hearts that need the things we are expecting from others??? It’s our purpose to live the best versions of ourselves.

Stop being angry. Stop expecting the empty voids in your life to be filled with stuff and other people. Stop expecting people to fill those voids, when you are the only one who can mend the wounds. You deserve it.. You are so special… So wonderful. You deserve the world, and a lifetime of abundant blessings.

But, until you heal yourself… You will be the toxicity that you try to repel of others.

Raw and Open: How Does It Feel To Be Adopted? | Mental Illness Community Canada

Prayer Request

If you could ask God to bless me with this specifically, I’d appreciate it:
For a stronger heart, to provide what I can to him, that will best help in his healing and rediscovery, at the right and best time. That’s my desire as well.

Thank you so much ❤️

My Mental Health Journey 14

Good Morning,

It’s Monday, May 6th. I’m home, in my head. Right now, I have too much time on my hands. Hopefully, that soon changes.

While I’m thankful for the following:

  1. Sunshine
  2. Warmer temperatures
  3. Good friends
  4. Coffee
  5. Singing of birds

I’m still carrying the invisible things, such as grief and confusion. For the INFJ, it’s not possible for ” let it roll off your back”. For HSPs, our emotions are rooted in our lives on a much deeper level. They can’t be yanked and weeded out just because they feel awful.

I’m dealing with a familiar difficult situation. This time, the gap feels like a continental distance. It’s early yet, but none of it feels good.

It makes me hesitant. It makes me cautious of my mental health and heart. It’s challenging me to constantly battle feelings that I shouldn’t be feeling… Because this situation isn’t his normal.

It’s painful. It’s isolating. I don’t know what’s going to happen.

This season is similar but different from the one before.

I’m not sure if this will be the last.

I just need some sense of direction…

I need some peace in this storm.

Word of the Day Challenge: Delight

Photo Credit: Juliet Furst on Unsplash

On Saturday mornings, Sasha attends pottery classes at the local arts center. She moved to San Jantino six months ago; and, she wanted to meet new people. Her job, as an architect developer, brought her here, but most of the employees were men. She wasn’t interested in them or any of that gender.

May first came rather quickly. It was a warm 70 degrees already, at a quarter till 8. Sasha grabbed her clothes and headed for the shower. While she suddes up and washed away yesterday’s fret, she sang along with Cher’s Turn Back Time, coming from her ipod. Sasha had always enjoyed the classics of this fascinating and independently strong woman.

Twenty minutes later, Sash turned off the water and grabbed her oversize purple bath towel. She stepped out of the tub and dried off.

Walking free and exposed to allow her skin to breathe, she strolled over to her Bluetooth speaker and connected the iPod. As it connected, Half Breed filled the room. She laughed. This was the song that was playing the first time she had a girl stay over, in her own place, back in Anchorage.

She’s never felt ashamed of her nakedness. She’s worked through the self consciousness of her attraction to women. She’s accepted that she is a bit husky and that her face is a bit full… She’s accepted that her parents have distanced themselves from her, and many of her friends have quit talking to her. For 17 years, she’s pretended to be who she isn’t. Every moment of those years was torturous. She had to move.

Realizing the time, Sasha grabbed an apple, her coffee, and keys. She headed out the door, triple checking to make sure both the screen and front doors were locked in place. She grabbed her sunglasses and put them on, with utter delight that today was such a joyful and exciting day.
