Pondering

When you write something, do you ever feel ANYTHING but neutral when the response to your writing is anything but what you were hoping?

I don’t want to say, and honestly I can say, my writing isn’t for self glory or praise or attention or recognition. I write to free myself of that which is my mind. I blog so I may help others find words they couldn’t before.

Sometimes, though, I’m disappointed. It’s merely from my interpretation of the result, and it’s differentiation from my expectation… still sucks.

Maybe time will change it. Maybe not.

Right now though, my interpretation is all I have … and the responsibility of it is all I want.

Nova’s Wise Words Wednesday

ALL that we are, is defined by ALL we are not.

Not our skin color

Not our clothing choice.

Not our religion

Not our education level

Not our hair color

Not our nail length

Not our vehicle, house size, or bank accounts

Not the amount we spend at Christmas

or the amount we tithe in church.

Not where we meet for lunch dates,

or the yoga class every Thursday afternoon

We are not the purse we carry

The Jordens we wear.

How many touchdowns we made in the game

How often we donate to Goodwill

What level of education we achieve

How many trophies we earn

What if any smart phone we carry

If we read the news digitally or at the table, with coffee.

We are NONE of that… because at the end of our time here, we are defined by the quality of our character and kindness of our actions. That’s how we are remembered.

Your Mission Statement

Moreso in the last decade, organizations, such a schools, have begun a new tradition: identifying their ” mission statement”. Why? It provides

  1. A goal to accomplish.
  2. Unity among everyone within the organization.
  3. A sense of direction, coupled with encouragement.
  4. Reason for valuable skills, such as endurance, hard work, and confidence.
  5. Path to find should one fall astray.

This statement is strong, something that brings each within together, with all the rest. Students learn teamwork.

What about here on WordPress? Or for your life, on a personal level? What’s your Mission Statement?

I never thought about it before, honestly. Writing one seems like a great idea though, for many reasons.

In the next couple of days, consider these words and your passions. What would you say is your Mission Statement?

You can find the original post of this image, here.

So I ask you…..

Is the objective to (try) limited angry citizens from committing shooting rampages???

OR

Is it to stop killing innocent people???

{Notice the first is focused on the weapon of choice. The second focuses on the victims}

Guns aren’t the only way it’s happening… But, boy, it seems to me, guns are all lots are worried about!!

Angry people are hurting others. It doesn’t matter if it’s physical or verbal. Have you listened to the suicide statistics due to bullying? Have you been listening at all???

Attacker kills 4, wounds 2 in California stabbing rampage | 6abc.com

Here is a man that exemplifies that the issue isn’t a “gun control issue”…. Here’s a man who has a “anger” issue, and hurt others. Sure, maybe not 19 or 40 people, but speaking of the innocence, comparison has no place!

A man who was “full of anger” stabbed, slashed and robbed his way across two Southern California cities in a bloody rampage that killed four people and wounded two others who were apparently targeted at random, authorities said.

Eventful Friday

Good Moring yall 😀 These photos were taken from the Pexels free library:D

I just wanted to share my positive vibes with you! My weekend has blessed me far beyond what I thought it would. It feels amazing when that happens, doesn’t it? I sure hope your weekend has been good to you thus far:D!! I know I’m sending you love and all my warmest hugs! If you smell something funny, it’s probably me too close. I was already out walking today and it’s a bit warm. I promise I don’t smell that bad though.

Here’s what’s happened that’s placed such a happiness in my heart. Yesterday morning, I waited to hear from a friend, to see if she’d watch my girls while i attended a meeting with my business partner ( boss and boyfriend). It was about eleven, when I got the great news that she’d be able to. I was beyond excited because I had been trying to “meet her” for years. I now finally had the opportunity and with a great reason!

“Meet” anymore is such a unique word. According to M-W Dictionary, meet means the following:

meet

adjective

Definition of meet (Entry 3 of 3)

precisely adapted to a particular situation, need, or circumstance very proper

We meet online, but not necessarily face to face. Anyway, I meet my friend, Helen nearly four years ago, and just met her face to face yesterday. The drive was nearly an hour. The girls were pretty content in the car; and mommy was a bit anxious driving where she hadn’t before. I was determined to not allow the fear and anxiety to control my day though. Guess what, I got through it!

Upon arriving, I was able to appreciate the scenery of corn fields and wide open space. I knew that lifestyle all too well, having grown up in a similar setting. My girls weren’t accustomed to it. Our “yard” is too small; and they can see the city from very close by. Personally, I think it’s a wonderful idea to integrate a variety of experiences into a child’s life. I defiantly wish for my girls to understand and appreciate other lifestyles and customs than their own.

The ride back was tremendously enjoyable. First and foremost, adult conversation was great! HAHA~ Visiting with Helen was wonderful, she’s such a sweet lady. I do believe my girls have adopted her as ‘grandma’ already. I knew my boo would be waiting for me when I returned to my home, which had my heart melting and in such butterflies.

All these years later, and after all that we’ve been through, he’s still the reason I laugh and smile and run into people and daydream. He challenges me to be bigger than I am, and to do more … to try, and learn. I know the cliche is that “he completes me”, but he really does! Any of you who’ve truly paid attention to how I’ve been can see the drastic difference. No it’s not HIS responsibility to make me happy. No it’s not been HIM that’s done so… but, for those of you who’ve found your “soul’s mate”…. can understand what it’s like to be apart… and to reunite again.

Upon returning home, Chad was waiting for me. God he looked so yummy! He’s Puerto Rican, so his jet black curls, dark suntanned skin. He’s got a slightly bad boy grin and a walk that says ” I can handle myself if I have too!” Yeah, that’s just the beginning. He drives me crazy.

What I thought was going to be a business meeting and dinner, turned out to be a perfect date night. We had gotten to the Embassy Suites Hotel, and realized we were a few weeks early for the meeting ( HA HA, I need to be discuss secretarial work with him) so we headed out for a bite to eat.

Talks of our kids and business, artichoke and spinach dip, his life in the Army, and my challenge to not eat shrimp filled the waiting period. He’s my best friend, so when he gets a chance to crack a joke or dish out alittle `tude, he doesn’t miss the chance. He’s lucky he’s cute!

After dinner, we took a detour through the back roads of Cleveland… along the train tracks. It was the coolest site; roads I’d never been on before. He enjoys that aimless exploration as much as I do; but, I hadn’t done so in quite some time.

When we returned back to my place, Helen had made plans with her children for the next day. She was picked up and taken home. It was such a pleasure to meet her.

Chad and I had watched Split ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND~) and had much needed adult time together.

What I loved the most about yesterday, and the valuable lesson that life taught me, was that there’s no need to stress if things don’t go according to plan… because what DOES happen, may become much more precious memories. It’s ok to not have things work out as we expected, because what’s meant to be, needs to be, and we need to get out of our own way to allow that to happen.

Saturdays events will follow in another blog post<3

Working on Us Week 8-9

This is a series that’s been created by Ms Beckie from Beckie’s Mental Mess.

Here’s where you can find the instructions to WEEK 8.

Here’s where you can find the instructions to WEEK 9.

I’ve been sick all week, and busy with life, that I haven’t been able to write on this lately. I thought I’d mesh these two together. (Beckie, hope that’s ok!).

Having lived with mild to severe anxiety and depression since 2001, I’ve had many victories of overcoming it. The greatest has most defiantly been overcoming suicidal tendencies, in 2005. The nightmare began four years prior, and I wasn’t ready for what I was about to endure. The hush hush of my family secrets tore my nights apart and stole much more than my peace of mind. My bedroom was the third, the top floor, of the house. It was a tall house, with a big backyard, hillside and lots of places to “hide”, if I wanted to pass in peace.

I spent most of my high school days proving myself worthy of my parents trust and respect, again (bullshit!). Most teenagers were sneaking out windows and illegally drinking with friends. Others my age were having sex and getting pregnant. That which my parents faced with me, was trivial in comparison. Furthermore, the issue at hand (as ridiculous as they are), couldn’t have been even more pathetic.

The last night I was in that house, my parents attempted to put their finger down one last time. To be honest, rightfully so, because, at that point in time, I straight up had no fucks left to give. I lied right to their faces. I did what I wanted. I rebelled like a professional. They tried to counteract that with more strict rules, and I was officially done.

I told my sister I was going to kill myself IF I didn’t leave. My intention was to take a steak knife ( I was on a rotating shift with dishes! I knew exactly which one i was going to use.) and use it. The harm wouldn’t have stopped with me, either. I knew my veins were screaming with adrenaline of destruction.

So I chose life…. and I gave that slogan a whole new meaning… It became my first and biggest victory.

Photo #1 for Week 8 is is a beautiful scene, with some greenery, in rain and sunlight.

This photo reminds me of the damper of anxiety and depression. It has moments of great heaviness, cold, gloom, downpour. It’s irritating when you’re caught in it, unexpectedly, without coverage. Soaked through and through, there’s no shelter, no place to think.. The anxiety is ruthless and relentless. The sunshine signifies the victory. It’s a break in the insanity of the endless grey and darkness. The sunshine is another resource that plants NEED, in order for nature’s complete balance. It’s not surprising that humans, also, need that break in the clouds. It’s our moments to regroup and breathe again!

WEEK 9 IS ALL ABOUT MY FIRST AND TRUEST LOVE: MUUSSIIICCCCCC!!!!!

Music is my therapy every single time. It’s quite honestly what saved my life in the days I spoke of, above. I didn’t have antidepressants to help sort out my toxic potion of feelings. I didn’t have parents that cared enough to even KNOW they existed. It wasn’t until some time after my departure that my sister handed my parents my diaries and told them to read them. It was then, when the scares were so fuckin deep that nothing of this world felt capable of healing them, that these people realized my severity and ugly demons.

These two particular songs speak volumes to me.

Though they’re somber and nostalgic, they speak about the hardships that are very real to me… and to our society. They speak about truth that it’s sometimes very dark and challenging. They speak of challenging moments that I’ve encountered and remind me of my resilience.

There’s ALWAYS a reason to fight. Keep searching for it my loves!!! IF you need one, I’ll be right here.

Fandango’s Provocative Question

You can find all the details to his thought provoking post HERE🙂

His question: What are the 3 biggest challenges in your country right now? If you’re not Up-to-date on the news, you can respond on a personal level.

I don’t follow the news much; however, one doesn’t need to in order to see big issues in my country.

#1. Racism has been and forever will be the biggest challenge. Sadly, it’s the easiest one to fix. No motherfucker is better than the next. We all are immortal and we all hurt. One day we all are going to die. The ones who are remembered choose to live life with intention and a long term purpose.

#2. Gun violence, unfortunately, has crept it’s way up under the wing of issue 1. I don’t understand why the world feels shooting is going to solve problems. It’s everywhere though. Just last week, right outside a local public library, here in Cleveland, a man shot another man over some weed. The victim didn’t survive. He was 19.

#3. Poverty is the third biggest issue. Again, I’m starting to believe this is a global issue, but I don’t understand why. There’s more empty houses in the United States than there are homeless individuals??!!! It makes no sense. There’s been reports in the last few years where laws and restrictions have been placed about what can be done with outdated food or overstock.

It seems that alittle more love and kindness can solve all kinds of problems… Or maybe I’m just nieve.
