Venturesome Spirit

Whon Chin had a venturesome spirit!

He lived in the fields; bathed in the streams of gold.

He walked the paths of adventure,

Fearing not what he may face.

A baby grizzly bear perhaps,

Or a chimpanzee with her young,,

A pack of hefty grey wolves,

Or maybe a Tiger who enjoys

Rice, fried with greens and chicken.

This was formulated for the Word of the Day- venturesome.

Mother-Daughter Ice Cream Date

This morning, my older daughter and I spent time together 🙂 It’s so neat so see her growing and eager to do things for me. She wanted to complete an ATM transaction. The lessons I knew I should have learned in different stages of life, are ones that remind me I need to be intentional with my raising my girls.

Anyway, she and I stopped at Walgreens, then the bank, then Dairy Queen:) We were actually able to sit outside and enjoy our ice cream, without freezing!!! It was so nice. I sure do enjoy the sunshine!! Lots and lots and lots of Vitamin C:)

Here’s what I got:

Ooohhhhhh Yes!! It was scrumptious!!

So how’s everyone doing today? Anyone spending quality time with kiddos? Anyone else blessed with gorgeous sun and windows opened? I hope you share with me in the comments, what is it that’s made you smile/laugh/feel happy today?!

Oh Snap, That Opinion

I’m only going to say this once,

But, once is enough. It’s not being said

To open Pandora’s Box, or invite an argument.

I’m saying this, because this is my blog… And these are

my thoughts, and THEY matter.

You may decide you don’t like me after reading this,

That’s OK. You may decide to disagree with me; that’s

OK to. What won’t happen is WWIII in my comments or

Disrespect flowing this direction.

I respect your decision, I respect our differences.

So here I am:

I’m liberal. I believe in the real US history, and the government working for us.

I’m Pro-Life. By the time a fetus is 8 weeks, there’s a heartbeat, which means LIVING! It’s not the fault of a baby’s that inconvenience was set on an adult’s plate! Pro Choice isn’t about promoting Womens’ rights, it’s about keeping Planned Parenthood in business! Abortions kill living babies, OK. It’s wrong.

I’m Bi-sexual; therefore, I’m sexual equality! Let me lay this down straight to you, attraction isn’t a choice. Straight people, you didn’t wake up one day and say ” Oh I think I’m just going to love dick. Or Vaginas.” And Poof.. So be it. So stop the double standard. I thought something was wrong with me all my life… Because I love boobs as much as the next guy… But you know what, I’ve lost people because of it. There’s NOTHING I’vent been through that could influence me now. EVERYONE DESERVES to be happy… And happiness looks different for everyone.

I’m against the death penalty. Why? Because there’s innocent men and women incarcerated all the time! There’s even ones executed, who died wrongly convicted. It’s not right. This is a real issue. For those of you who lost a loved one on 9-11, I am so sorry! Why do I mention it? I’m not convinced it was some random act of terror. I believe there’s blood on the hands of our government. I would struggle with being American. So accept my apology, for the ignorance the Government keeps handing out.

I’m one who spanks my kids. So I beat them? No!! Do I leave marks? No! Do I limit this? Yes of course. I believe though that a stern butt spanking once in a while teaches when I’m not messing around about a rule.

K, that’s enough for now. I’m sure I’ve left a bad enough taste in some mouths.

I Have Plenty

Imagine a world where we said

“I have plenty, let me share some with you.”

There’s plenty of room,

Sure, sit by me on the bus.

I have plenty to wear,

Let me give you my coat.

There’s plenty to drink,

Please accept this bottle of water.

I have plenty of essentials,

That I should be helping others.

Having plenty is a gift.

At some point in time,

We all needed help, and

Someone else HAD plenty

Enough. Imagine a

World where we all pay

The Kindness Forward.

When we all HAVE plenty🌸

Your Daily Word Prompt: Plenty

Mood

Hey, how is everyone doing?

I’m not nearly as sick, thankfully,

But my spirit still feels sad and heavy.

I’m not sure what’s going on with it.

I don’t bother asking for prayer because

I never get any responses. I’m just

exceptionally sad right now. I’ve been like

this all day. I don’t know what to do to feel better.

None of my techniques seem to be helping,

and I’m so sad.

Oh Sweet Child

Write your own story, sweet child!

The world is yours, in the palm of your hand.

You can dance on raindrops, and

Sing with birds, fly on eagle’s wings,

Or swing with friends.

You can walk the roads of sweet dreams

and see what success tastes like.

The future holds the opportunities

you’re willing to take.

Write your story, sweet child,

One of golden streams and evergreens,

Laughter that resonates from the highest mountains

And warms your heart, when you are home.

This world is yours for the making,

The pen’s in your hand.

Dedicated to my babies, Zivah & Calandra 🌼🌸🌺

Twenty-six letters, that’s it

The only 26 little details that:

Formulate thoughts to words,

Words to paper,

Dreams to plans, and

Blueprints to luscious Architecture.

Combinations of these letters create scrumptious recipes,

Potentially dangerous documents, and

Stomach deep laughter of manuscripts.

All that’s to know, all we’ve yet to learn

Comes from these simple twenty six letters.

Such an intriguing and inspiring concept.

Spin The Yarn – Baby Steps- Fishing

It was a glorious July morning, and my family was up hustling the last minute important items to the Suburban. We were heading out to our annual family fishing weekend at Senecaville, Lake!

This would be our fifth consecutive year, and I was determined to do well again this year. You see, the ” first place winner” of the previous year is awarded an extra twenty minutes head start on snagging a catch.

“Are we ready yet?” my Aunt Carol shouted from outside.

” Yep, let’s do this!” my brother, Bryan, continued.

As I leisurely strolled up next to him, he was reliving his victorious catch from two years ago.

” I caught a fish….” he was saying, with great anticipation, ” and it was THAT big!” with his hands measuring the length of 2.5 feet apart.

Our seven year old cousin, Ryan, had this look of utter disbelief across his face.

“There’s no way! You couldn’t have caught him with fake bait and reeled him in with your cheapo fishing pole?” he declared with much certainty!

” You callin me a liar boy; wanna see pictures? I remember the strength of the tug, as I regained focus not to lose my pole. I had just hooked a half of the meatest night crawler on the end, and tossed my line out 17 inches from the boat. ” Bryan concludes with confidence.

“Were you night fishing?” Ryan inquired, as everyone finished packing into the truck.

“Boy, you know that’s when you catch the best of the best. What kind of question is that, Knuckle head!”

I laughed so hard at my crazy family. There’s quirks that no one would believe and stories for days. I know men pride themselves in “size”… Of nearly anything. I alloted my twinner the spotlight; however, my victory catch outweighed his.

The Mighty App

I’m on ” The Mighty App”!! I vaguely remember seeing this app before but it didn’t catch my attention. It just must not have been the right point in time for me to incorporate it into my life, because it’s indeed an app that I value and recommend.

It’s a place to find a support community. If you cope with schizophrenia, or irritable bowl syndrome, anxiety or vertiligo, you will find a support group here. It’s a place to speak openly and confidentially with others… Who will listen.

New Blogger Welcome 🌸

<a href="unsplash-logoIna Soulis

Everyone, Ms Brianna, over @urselflove, just published her first post here on WordPress! I’ve been privileged to assist her with her blogging and I wanted to ask if you all would give her a warm welcome. Her goal is to create a place of positivity and to help in anyway she can to those who pass by her blog. She’s getting a feel for the WP community, and I assured her that this was the best place for community support.

Would you please leave her some love in the comments? Thank you, loves!!

Update

I’ve been unable to focus these last few days, much less blog. My girls were with my younger daughter’s father for the weekend, and I hoped I would have been feeling better.

Saturday morning arrived, and I didn’t feel better. I was feeling worse. I knew I had a respiratory infection; but, I cleaned out my ears on top of that. Yes, typically that’s a good thing. It’s apart of hygiene. For me, unfortunately, it always means AT LEAST two days of “vertigo” symptoms will, undoubtedly, follow.

What is vertigo? It’s a condition within the inner ear, in which the hairs become super sensitive, and possibly fluid causes the equilibrium to go off center. All that jargon to say, it feels like being drunk but without the alcohol. For me, cleaning my ears means high body temps, temple ache, headache possibly, irritability, all the fun stuff.

I believe yesterday ( the second to worst day I’ve felt in two weeks.) was a result of that. I couldn’t cool down, then I couldn’t warm up. I had my thermostat set at 72 degrees. There’s no reason why I should have been cold. So, I struggled to feel ok, at all.

In addition to my physical pain, my heart hurt, for many reasons. (Mind you I have been off my antidepressants because I physically haven’t had the strength to take or stomach them).

First, I spent the entire day yesterday watching A Million Little Things! Ohhh..Emmm…Geeee! I was absorbed into the show after five minutes into episode one. The problem was, was this time machine of a TV show took me back to 2014… When my husband committed suicide. I could relate to nearly every character. The responses and the questions, the hurt and confusion. I felt every bit of every episode… But, it sure took a lot out of me.

Before that, I had written about my Mental Health Journey, here on WP. Completing those two tasks consecutively wasn’t smart. It was what it was though.

In addition to these two factors, I realized that I can’t announce my success as a blogger, because not everyone will be happy for me. What is this world coming to when someone recieves equally, negative feedback and positive, in response to their success? Sure that’s reality, but I didn’t see so clearly the truth in the quote, Watch who congratulates you when you succeed, until now. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

I’ve had an a few unfortunate situations arise as a result of my blog, the last few days. None of it has been due to my choices, but as a result of others responses to my posts. It’s saddens my heart really. I thought we supported one another here, but I clearly see that’s not always the case.

All that being said, thank you again to those who sent positivity my way in response to my March Stats. I’m going to continue striving to provide helpful, positive, encouraging, and creative material so that I reach my 10K. I encourage all of you to set high goals and believe you will get there.

I’m looking forward to writing again soon.

Att: Special Report 📣

Wow oh wow you guys, I kinda look like death right now. It’s not at all flattering on me; however, it’s best I wear it than my girls feel terrible and sick.

My nose has been running. I don’t have the energy to chase it anymore. Anyone wanna take the next shift? There’s donuts involved?! You don’t even have to blow it ( erm.. Uh..), wipe it… I can manage that much.

Some brat is pounding on my temples. OUCH!! I need it to stop for the love of God. I can’t think straight line this. Oh you hush all the way in the back, I do to think. It’s just on special occasion as of lately.

My chest feels lighter, since I kicked the elephant off of it. That’s funny huh, like I stand a chance to an elephant. You see, the trick is peanuts.. They’ll come running to anyone or anywhere they lay. I really can’t blame them, I love nuts myself. Uuummmmm….

Moving right along, to the left here you’ll see a lung. It’s not in the best of shape, due to the cold and lack of exercise. I can work on that though, if I stop coughing it up. (And this snow would take a hike! Yes, nearly April and we have snow).

OK, well I’m off back to bed. My body needs so much rest. Happy Sunday Lovelies 🌺

New life 💐🌼🌺🌸🌷🌹

New Life 💕

I love that metaphor about the flowers and blooming. Each one never compares itself to the one on either side, or close by. Each one just soaks up the sun, and the water, growing upward towards the light. Growing and growing by itself, from a tiny seed.

So much beauty comes from a tiny little seed. It’s amazing! The seed never doubts it’s ability, doesn’t stop in fear, doesn’t hide from possibilities. This living thing just grows, providing such a gift to earth, humans, and all that’s around.

There’s so much we can learn from that seedling. Being brave enough to live aside from what could go wrong. Soaking up light, allowing it to nurture our souls, and encourage us to share the beauty. It’s teaching us that we need not be concerned about comparison, it’s not anything useful for us. That seed teaches us to trust our roots, to let them push us upward and grow.

Bloom where you are planted 🌺🌻🌳🌸🌷🌼

Sides of The Law

What side the law you on

When that round pops,

And that black man’s laying on the ground.

When a cell phone captures the scene,

And there’s no chance he’d make it

Home that night.

What side the law you on

When the badge becomes an

Excuse to abuse it’s powers

And violate human rights.

When the truth is masked by blackmail

And prejudice fokes don’t give AF.

What side the law you on

When the victim is a wife,

Of a cop, a military man, or pastor.

When she hides her eyes, and

Covers her skin, in fear of repercussions.

What side the law you on

When that boy stuffed his pockets,

Hungry, cold, and suffering,

Can’t go home because his daddy would rape him.

His mommy is on drugs and

There’s no means of surviving.

What side of the law you on

When she’s on the street corner

Doin what she do

To feed her babies, pay those bills

Because one mistake put felon

On her record.

What side the law you on

When the husband was the victim

His wife a crazy bitch,

Police report is a waste of time

Until he met his creator

And she went to far.

There’s the ” law ” and there’s

Right and truth.

What should never happen is

Happening.

Because of violence? Race? Fear? Pride?

Because of judgements and hate.

Be on the right side… Do what’s right.

Start with yourself.

Show & Tell

Formulated for Rachel Poli’s Time to Write Picture Prompt 😀 You can read more by clicking the hyperlink 🙂

{ Younger Brandy presenting Linux to her Kindergarten friends}

This is Linux. Today, I brought him in for Show & Tell at school. Ms. Brandy said I could bring him. My mom wasn’t happy about it; but she finally said yes. Linux has been my friend for all my life. When I was born, he would listen to music with me in the nursery. I don’t remember that, but it’s what my mom told me. She bought him from the Pets Plus shop down the road from us. I love going there. I love seeing all the animals and the owners. It kinda makes me sad, too. I always want to bring all the animals home so they have a home. My mom always laughs and says,

” You can when you win the lottery; otherwise you’ll need a really good paying job. ”

I don’t even know what that is, but I know one day I’ll have lots of money to buy all the animals.

Ok, that’s it.

For the record, this is complete fiction 🙂

Trapped Trauma

Did you know that when you remember a memory, it’s potentially being reformed? That’s right, your memories are recreated by brain protein.

” One of the scientists who has done the most to illuminate the way memory works on the microscopic scale is Eric Kandel, a neuroscientist at Columbia University in New York City. In five decades of research, Kandel has shown how short-term memories—those lasting a few minutes—involve relatively quick and simple chemical changes to the synapse that make it work more efficiently. Kandel, who won a share of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, found that to build a memory that lasts hours, days or years, neurons must manufacture new proteins and expand the docks, as it were, to make the neurotransmitter traffic run more efficiently. Long-term memories must literally be built into the brain’s synapses. Kandel and other neuroscientists have generally assumed that once a memory is constructed, it is stable and can’t easily be undone. Or, as they put it, the memory is “consolidated.”

You can read the entire article HERE!!

This brief paragraph explains how this process of creating memories works and the evidence of doubt in memory stability once they’ve been established.

Consider this then, every time you are not in the present, you could be recreating painful memories unnecessarily. There’s the gift behind the idea that we should “be”, here and now. We are literally prolonging our suffering. Seems silly to me. We have so much more power over our lives than most realize.

Isn’t it time we start making life maxed out with wonderful days and great things?!

How to Listen Without Getting Defensive

I will be the first to say ” I Do This!! ” No, I don’t want to, so I’ve been working on it.

Today I learn something so interesting, our neurotransmitters filter all the information we absorb. Now, when we hear a ” difference of opinion” about a subject of our deep concern, because it’s of importance to us, we get defensive! It’s the same process that occurs if we see a loved one getting attacked.

This particular article talks about how we can work ourselves out of that defense mode. These are EASY AND SIMPLE changes that can strengthen our relationships of any level!

You’ve Got This!! Good Luck!

Here’s the key to listening non-defensively.

I Dedicate…

This is being formulated for the One Word Prompt Challenge: dedicate! Photos have been taken from Pinterest.

🌼 I dedicate this post to every warrior who’s survived abuse: whether you’re a man, woman, gender fluent, survived emotional abuse, sexual, or physical. An individual who lives to tell their story of every, any, and all situations where he/she endured forced harm is beyond surviving. You are amazing, and you need to believe this about you. 🌸

Fri-yay!!

Barely??!! Anyone else??😂

Good Morning 🦋🌞 How’s everyone doin? How strong is your coffee this morning? I have a fresh cup sitting next to me 🙂

My night consisted of three hours of a harsh dry cough. It was great fun. My chest is tight, so I diagnosed myself with an upper respiratory infection. Once I got that under control, my back started bothering me.

This morning, however, I was thankful that I walked to the coffee pot, and it was prep for brewing. That little detail is what makes life wonderful. Those moments of pure relief, of utter bliss, or complete contentment. When something makes life alittle easier, when something feels incredible, we should embrace the whole experience.

Anyway, have a fantastic weekend!
