There’s a delicacy in the position of a novice. Like a new born child learning to roll, crawl, and walk, they’re susceptible to everything that ” experience” would already know.
During this time, the newbie, such as a police “boot” or fire fighter “cadet”, needs guidance. They need those who have “been there, done that” to communicate, and lead. Safety comes first, and much of that is through words and mistakes.
In life, we all have been a novice at one point in time or another. Some of us have had positive and powerful leaders. We’ve gained confidence and have had the support so we thrived. Others of us hadn’t been as lucky. We’ve had individuals belittle and criticize our efforts.
Nonetheless, each person had to make the choice to keep going.
