Ms. Mafi’s Ignite Me

This quote is taken from the book, Ignite Me. You can purchase a copy here.

You can read more about Ms Mafi on her Epic Reads profile 🙂

“But there’s something about the darkness, the stillness of this hour, I think, that creates a language of its own. There’s a strange kind of freedom in the dark; a terrifying vulnerability we allow ourselves at exactly the wrong moment, tricked by the darkness into thinking it will keep our secrets. We forget that the blackness is not a blanket; we forget that the sun will soon rise. But in the moment, at least, we feel brave enough to say things we’d never say in the light.”

Tahereh Mafi

How true this is. There’s something awakening and vulnerable about the night hours. So much truth is revealed. Dates, intimate encounters, drinks, concerts, social networking… Nighttime is expected to keep some of our silliest mistakes and biggest secrets.

I think of the night as a covering. And if I need light the moon will guide me.

I romanticize about the moon, too.

I think of the moon as an old friend.

Surely understand why. Moon has listened to me countless times. Take a look at my posts, Shooting Star & {3TC:} Miss Claire and Her Moon.
