Life

Prepared for Anything

Right now, if she couldn’t see,

She’d take extra time, fingers floating

Around her, seeing with them,

Where everything should be.

Right now, if she couldn’t hear,

She’d study every gesture and annunciation

Mentally sharpening her beauty of interaction

Within personal space.

Right now, if she couldn’t smell,

She’d dive into all textures and explore

All scenery, enjoying the gifts of words and sound.

Right now, if she couldn’t swallow, she’d take time and enjoy all the riches aromas.

The evergreen and fresh rain, toasted marshmallows, and buttercream bruleè.

Right now, if she didn’t have hands, she’d tell the stories of soul.

The Holy ones on Sunday, and intimate Friday nights…

Of ravaging melting passion and holiday togetherness, though it hurt.

She knew she’d adapt, should she’d be limited, She lives every day…. Completely utilizing all of the great gifts she’s been given.
